Sustainable Brands: Feelings Are the New Black

While Sustainability is just one piece of the puzzle and emotional marketing is nothing new - companies have been using it for decades to sell us everything from toothpaste to luxury cars. When it comes to sustainable branding, emotional marketing takes on a whole new meaning.

With consumers becoming increasingly conscious of their impact on the environment, utilizing emotional design becomes an art of designing products that elicit emotional responses from customers.

How do you key in?

Think about it: when you buy a product, you're not just buying a physical object. You're buying an experience, a feeling, a lifestyle. That's why emotional design is so important. By designing products that connect with customers on an emotional level, brands can create lasting relationships with their customers.

But what does emotional design look like in the context of sustainable branding? It could be something as simple as using Eco-friendly materials, or something more complex like designing products that inspire a sense of purpose in customers.

What about context

Let’s look into a brand called “Free Water” their slogan is “because water should be free”. This works not only because it’s true but it also raises conversation. It subtly asks you why is water presently not free then provides you a solution once you come to the end of your thought. These small touches can make a big impact on how customers feel about your brand.

Build a community

The key to emotional design in sustainable branding is to create products that align with customers' values and inspire them to take action. When customers feel like they're part of a movement, they're more likely to become loyal brand advocates.

So if you're a sustainable brand looking to connect with customers on a deeper level, remember - it's not just about the product, it's about how that product makes us feel.
